Notes

A superb example of the work of 19th century French genre painter Amédée Guérard depicting a mother and daughter in an interior.  The painting has a wonderful provenance having been sold by Phillips auctioneers in 1999 for £1,100 GBP plus buyers premium.  Signed and dated lower left.

Condition

In very fine 'gallery' condition.  Professionally lined and conserved probably shortly after the Phillips sale in 1999.  Clean, most attractive, well framed and ready to hang.

Artist Information

Amédée Guérard was a French genre painter and engraver.  A pupil of François-Édouard Picot , he began at the Salon of 1848 and participated there until 1890. His Adoration of the Cross was presented at the Universal Exhibition of 1855.  A street in Sens bears his name.
