A very fine example of the work of Henry Thring Shayer depicting a sportsman outside a rural tavern. The painting has a wonderful provenance having previously been sold by leading London gallery Arthur Ackermann & Son and with its original gallery label verso. Unsigned.
Condition
In very fine condition. Professionally lined and conserved in the late 20th century. Clean, most attractive, well framed and ready to hang.
Artist Information
Henry Thring Shayer was a pupil of his father, William Shayer Senior. His brothers Charles Waller Shayer, Edward Dasherwood Shayer and William Shayer Junior were also artists. He lived with his father until his death in 1879 and was greatly influenced by his painting. He painted landscapes and sporting scenes often in collaboration with his father or brothers.
