An Allegory of Charity and Faith - Sold

An extremely fine late 17th/early 18th century oil painting on canvas depicting a young lady gazing heavenward whilst draped in finery and surrounded by her worldly possesions as an allegory of charity and faith.  The painting may be a symbolic depiction of Saint Elizabeth of Hungary  - a princess of the Kingdom of Hungary who sacraficed her worldly wealth to devote her life to charity and religion.  The stretcher with an old inscription 'Elizabeth' verso.
